My name is Rachael Thompson and for the last 10 years, I have been happily working as an Independent Civil Celebrant.
I am a proud Mum of two great children, have three 'naughty' dogs and a temperamental classic VW campervan called Betsy. I love all things vintage, classic and quirky.
Originally from Lincolnshire, (a child of the Fens!) I have lived in the Midhurst area for the past 30 years. I feel blessed to live within the heart of the South Downs National Park, with rolling hills, breath-taking views and ancient woodland. Just a twenty five minute drive will take you to the beautiful beach at West Wittering. With large expanses of sand, backed by dunes and salt marsh it is considered to be one of the best beaches in West Sussex.
I am enthusiastic, creative, colourful and fun. I feel incredibly fortunate in that I work alongside amazing people in stunning surroundings. I offer you the freedom of choice to create a ceremony exclusive to you. Whether it be sunrise or sunset, in a garden, a Tipi, on a farm, in a field, by a lake or on a beach. I'm happy to mix old and new to ensure your special day is personal. It could be informal or formal, relaxed or chaotic. We can work together, making sure your day is perfect. Creating memories for you and your family that will last a life time, whether it be a wedding, renewing your vows or welcoming a little one to the family, It’s your day, make sure its done your way.
A Celebrant is someone who is trained in providing you with a custom made ceremony for a whole range of occasions, such as a wedding, civil partnership, vow renewal, baby naming or any other special milestone.
A celebrants ceremony does not have to include religion, so it's all about you, deeply personal and unique. You get to know your chosen celebrant, so you have rapport and form a positive relationship. This in turn creates a relaxed, fun atmosphere - usually with lots of giggles!!
Your chosen venue does not have to be licensed, and your ceremony is not restricted by time constraints.
*It's worth noting that wedding ceremonies are not legally binding so a quick trip to the registrar to complete legalities is a must. (I can guide you through this part if need be.)
Baby Blessings or Naming Ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular. Many parents want to recognise and celebrate the arrival of a child, welcoming their baby into the family and circle of friends. They may not feel a traditional religious christening ceremony is a true reflection of their values and beliefs therefore by choosing a celebrant the celebration can be informal and fun with no restrictions. There is no set script so we can work together to ensure the ceremony is tailored especially for you and your family. You are provided with an opportunity to make your own promises to your child while close friends and relatives can be involved to confirm their role to nurture and guide your child through life.
There are may reasons why couples may like to have a renewal of vows ceremony. You may simply want to reaffirm your commitments and celebrate your love for each another, or perhaps you have reached a milestone in your marriage such as a Silver or Golden wedding anniversary.
You may wish to repeat the vows you made to each other during your wedding or shout to the world that you love each other as much now as you did then.
"We would like to say a massive thank you to Rachael for making our special day exactly as we wanted it. She tailored a perfect script around our beliefs and needs. We have had so many comments from guests saying how meaningful the service was, and lots of people said it was the best wedding they had been to, so thank you again for your part "

"Thank you so much Rachael for all your help support and fun. Your humour took away the stress and worries that organising a wedding brings. We knew we were safe in your hands. Everyone loved how we laughed our way through the ceremony, it was perfect, just as we wanted it to be"
